From Evansville Police Department Incident Report - April 14, 2012:
EVSC - Victim of Burglary-non residential at 2319 Stringtown Rd Evansville, IN between 22:37 04/14/2012 and 22:40 04/14/2012.
On 04/14/2012 at approximately 22:37 hours, officers were dispatched to the old North High School building at 2319 Stringtown Rd in reference to a commercial burglary alarm. Dispatch notified officers they received multiple beam alarms from multiple locations throughout the school. As officers arrived, dispatch notified officers of additional alarms. Officers arrived on scene and quickly set up a perimeter around the building. Officers could hear audible alarms from several different locations. Officers identified the athletic office had all of its lights on and the drawers and cabinets were open. At the same time, dispatch advised they received an alarm from the area of the athletic office. A K9 officer identified he was going into the building with his police K9. The officer was heard by outside officers announcing his presence and for the individuals inside the school to make themselves known. Moments later, a w/m, later identified as Joseph P. Logsdon, exited through the west doors of the gym A. Logsdon was spotted by officers and ordered at gunpoint to the ground. Logsdon was taken into custody. Logsdon stated he was 18 years old and there was another w/m in the building and that he was of age. Officers relayed to the K9 officer there was another w/m in the building and he was a juvenile. Logsdon stated they were both North High School students at the new school. Moments later, a w/m exited the east doors of the building into the football and athletic field. Officers spotted him and ordered him to come to them. The w/m went out of sight, took off a jacket, and walked back out to the officers and was taken into custody. Officers located a set of building keys laying with the jacket. Officers requested a detective to the scene. The detective arrived and conducted his investigation. Later, officers found that the 2 green and white North High School jackets, which Logsdon and the juvenile were wearing, and a set of EVSC building keys used to access perimeter and interior doors of schools throughout the city were stolen from various areas of the building. An EVSC representative arrived on scene and the two jackets and building keys were returned to him. Officers transported Logsdon and the juvenile to headquarters to be interviewed by the detective. When the detective was finished, Logsdon was arrested and transported to the VCCC and charged with burglary and theft from a building. The juvenile, with his parent, was arrested, charged with burglary, theft from a building and then released to his mother.
