Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office News Release:
At approximately 6:56 p.m. today, Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Highway 41 and Mt. Pleasant Rd in reference to a three vehicle crash. Upon arrival, deputies were able to determine that Rebecca L. Baker (19 years of age; from Evansville) was traveling northbound in the left hand (passing) lane of traffic when her 1996 Chevy Impala stalled. Baker was attempting to pull over on the left side of the highway when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a white 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Mark Loman (48 years of age; from Centralia, Illinois). The Dodge Ram careened off of the Chevy and struck a 1987 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling in the right hand lane of traffic. The motorcycle was driven by Hobert S. Sidney, Jr. (66 years of age; from Evansville).
Sidney received minor scratches from the accident, but needed no medical treatment. Two juvenile passengers in the Chevy were transported to St. Mary's Medical Center. Marvin Liuzzi (17 months old; from Evansville) struck his head in the collision and sustained a non-life threatening contusion. Emily Kimble-Todd (4 years of age; from Evansville) was taken for precautionary measures only. Both children were properly restrained.
The crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
