The City of Evansville will be experiencing a new way for city pickup of trash and recycles for 2013. Each residence in the city will be assigned two 96 gallon containers. One for trash and one for recycles. The trash can is dark gray with a dark gray lid while the recycle container is dark gray with a green lid. If you see you don't need a 96 gallon trash container, you can request a 48 gallon container. Each container will have a serial number which corresponds with your address, so if they disappear or you find a strange can in your neighborhood, you can call Allied Waste and they will know where this container belongs.
Your two containers will be delivered to your address with instructions for trash pickup and recycling during the first 3 months of 2013.
The new service will actually cause the refuse fee to decrease form $12.15 to $10.65. Pickup service will still be one time per week, but the pickup date may change..watch for notices. If your current pickup is in the ally, it will remain in the alley. If your pickup now is on the street, it will remain on the street. Heavy trash pickup will remain in the spring and fall of the year. Christmas tree pickup will remain the same. The blue containers that you now use for recycling will be picked up by Allied Waste. They will be cleaned and another community will be waiting to use them.
