Type of Crime: Death Investigation
Date of Crime: 071212
Location of Crime: 10 E. Delaware
Evansville Police continue to investigate a suspicious death at 10 E. Delaware. The body of an unidentified female was found in the apartment during a “check the welfare” run on July 12th.
Police have received information about the possible identity of the victim, but are waiting for the Coroner’s office to make a positive identification.
Police also received information that a man and women shared the apartment. The man was not at the scene when officers arrived. Police released the name of the man believed to live at the apartment and asked for the public to help locate him. He was identified as Robert Edward Hicks.
During a local newscast, a viewer saw the story and knew Hicks was staying in Henderson. The Henderson Police Department was able to locate Hicks and he is being interviewed by investigators from the Evansville Police Department this morning. Hicks is only being called a person of interest at this time.
Investigators are waiting for the Coroner’s office to rule on a cause of death and will use that information to determine if a crime has occurred. The investigation is on-going. We will continue to give updates when possible.
We would like to thank the Henderson Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
