The following is a message that was posted today on the Evansville Police Department's Facebook page:
We would like to thank Officers Jasen Clegg and Darin Clifton for their actions on July 20th. The officers were assisting an injured bicylclist who was deaf. He was unable to communicate verbally or in writing. When an ambulance arrived, he refused to be treated. His injuries prevented him from being able to ride his bike.
The only thing he had with him was a hotel room key. There was no hotel name on it, just a room number. The officers decided they were going to get him and his bike back to the hotel no matter how long it took. They began driving him to area hotels and waited for him to indicate they had the right one. After several checks, they found his hotel.
The extra effort shown by these officers sets a great example for us all.
