Sharing a message posted on the Facebook wall of the Evansville Police Department: With winters’ arrival, the early morning ritual of warming up the car has begun. There has already been at least two cases where cars were stolen while they were left unattended while warming up. The latest was this morning.
It only takes a second for a thief to get in your car and take it. Even if you look out the window and see them doing it, there is nothing you can do to stop them at that point. Please take steps to prevent this from happening to you. Your best bet, regardless of the brand or type of vehicle you drive, is to lock the doors when the car is unattended. Make sure you have a spare key or key fob before you lock the car though.
