Warrick County – Indiana State Police arrested former Boonville Assistant Police Chief Terry Winkler, 36, of Grandview, after a criminal investigation revealed he allegedly stole over $21,000 from the Warrick County Fraternal Order of Police. He was arrested at 10:30 this morning after he turned himself in at the Warrick County Jail. He was later released after posting a $5,000 cash bond.
Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation in March after being contacted by Warrick County F.O.P. board members regarding missing funds. During the investigation, Detective Al Sherretz determined Winkler allegedly made 19 unauthorized bank transactions from the Warrick County F.O.P. account and deposited over $21,000 into his personal accounts. Winker allegedly made the unauthorized transactions between April 2010 and July 2011 while he served as president of the Warrick County F.O.P.
