From the Evansville Police Department:
Evansville Police arrested 23 year old VASHON SHERMAN for Criminal Recklessness and Possession of a Handgun without a Permit after he shot at an occupied car.
Officers investigating a report of shots fired in the 1200 block of S. Roosevelt learned that SHERMAN had been arguing with his girlfriend, Apollonia Nelson. As Nelson was leaving in her car, SHERMAN fired a shot into the back windshield. Officers also learned that the Nelson’s 6 year old son was in the back seat of the car at the time of the shooting. He was not injured.
When officers arrived, both SHERMAN and Nelson told them that an unknown person had shot at their car during a drive-by shooting. An independent witness came forward and told officers that SHERMAN had fired the shot at the car. Officers located the gun under a nearby car.
SHERMAN was arrested for 2 counts of Criminal Recklessness (D felony) and 1 count of Possession of a Handgun without a Permit (A Misdemeanor).
