From a Mt. Carmel Police Department Press Release:On 11/24/2012, the Mt. Carmel Police Department responded to a domestic situation at 407.5 W. 4th Street in Mt. Carmel. Officers arrived at approximately 10:35 pm. The complainant advised her boyfriend had pushed her from the residence and prevented her from getting 4 children from the residence. Two of the children were able to get out of the back of the residence. 1 toddler and 1 infant were left in the residence with the suspect.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Blake Cash, 33 years old. Cash refused to answer the door for officers and advised he was not letting the children leave the residence. Cash then barricaded himself in the residence.
The Mt. Carmel Police Department requested assistance from the Illinois State Police Swat Team, Illinois State Police District 19, and the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.
After a 12 hours standoff the subject was taken into custody by the Illinois State Police Swat Team.
The children were not harmed.
Cash has been transported to the Wabash County Jail and is being held pending charges and a bail hearing. The case is still under investigation.
