Officer was dispatched in reference to a vehicle accident. Upon my arrival, I found the vehicle had ran off the roadway and down a levee embankment. A Hamrick's wrecker was on scene, but had also gotten stuck trying to get the victim's vehicle out. We had to wait for a second wrecker to get the first wrecker off of the embankment. When this was complete, Hamrick's got the victim's vehicle up the levee and unstuck. The victim's vehicle was not damaged and was driveable. When asked what happened, victim stated that her dog (a chihuahua) had gotten loose and she was trying to find it. Victim was driving her 1991 Nissan Pathfinder. She spotted the canine near Stringtown/Cardinal. Victim began to follow the dog in her vehicle, not paying attention to the roadway in front of her. Victim drove off the roadway and down the levee, narrowly missing several trees. Vcitim's vehicle got stuck in the mud. Victim got her boyfriend and they attempted several times to get the Pathfinder out of the mud, but failed. They then called Hamrick's. Hamrick's arrived and the driver thought the scene looked suspicious, so he called police. I advised the victim that I was going to complete a Misc Incident Report due to the incident happening on the levee.
