Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office News Release:
On February 12, 2012, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into a home invasion robbery that had just occurred at 5120 Big Cynthiana Rd. After robbing the homeowner at gunpoint, the suspects fled in a vehicle. The homeowner, Ira Beumer, pursued in his own vehicle and after a short pursuit, crashed into the suspect's vehicle. One of the suspects, Antuan Jenkins, was killed in the collision. Two suspects, Nalakeio Bennett and Dezmont Hogan, fled the scene and were apprehended after a short time while on foot in the area. A fourth suspect, Jeton Hall was badly injured and transported to a local hospital. He was later arrested upon his release from medical care.
Sheriff's detectives have continued their investigation into the incident. After considerable review of the facts, comparison of the various statements from those arrested and others combined with the technical analysis of the evidence led sheriff's detectives to believe other persons were involved in the robbery. The investigation continued and with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office Gang Unit, Eric Weston Dunn was developed as an additional suspect in the robbery. An arrest warrant was obtained on April 25th charging Dunn with Burglary Causing Injury Class A Felony, Confinement Class B Felony and Theft Class D Felony. On April 26th, Dunn was located by sheriff's deputies and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
Dunn was transported to the Vanderburgh County Detention Center where he is being held on a $100,000.00 cash only bond.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
