Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office News Release - July 9, 2012
On Friday, July 6th at approximately 11:00pm, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the 4000 block of S. Weinbach Ave. Upon arrival, deputies located at 1995 White Dodge Ram truck off the roadway in the cornfield.
Deputies identified the driver of the truck as Robert Lee Jackson, Sr. Mr Jackson was unconscious, but breathing. Mr Jackson was transported by emergency personnel to St Mary's Hospital with severe head injuries. During the course of the investigation, the deputies discovered the vehicle had struck a series of trees prior to coming to rest. In addition, deputies smelled a strong odor of alcohol from the vehicle and Mr. Jackson's person.
On Sunday July 8th, the coroner's office contacted the sheriff's office and advised Mr. Jackson had died due to the severe head injuries.
